University of Maryland was first established in 1856 A.D. It is a Public University made to provide quality education among the students. This University is located in college park of Maryland in United States of America somewhere in between Washington DC and Baltimore so that the students will not have to face difficulties to reach big cities for their important works.The nickname of university of Maryland is Terrapins or Terps. The mascot for the University is “Testudo” which means Tortoise. This University of Maryland has its affiliation with University system of Maryland, AAU, Field Institute, CIC, CUWNA, APLU, ORAU, URA and universities 21.

University of Maryland covers 1,250 acres of the land. The president of the University of Maryland is Wallace Loh and the Provost is Mary Ann Rankin. The University endows $847 million. This University has 4,248 academic staffs with 5,134 administrative staff and the students of 37,631 with 26,826 from the undergraduate program and 10,805 from the post graduate program. University of Maryland is also a member of association of American universities. This University receives a fund as a support from national institute of health, national aeronautics and space administration (NASA) and department of homeland security for different kinds of research. University has also participated in NCAA Division- I, big ten.

The University joined the Big ten in the year 2014 and has won Women field hockey for 7 times in NCAA championship.
